A newer addition to the umbrella of breakbeat, nu-skool breaks was developed in 1998 in the U.K. Artists such as Adam Freeland, Rennie Pilgrim, BT, and Elite Force implemented a style consisting of chopped-up, industrial, drum 'n' bass lines and crisp, techno-influenced beats, marrying this style to the Florida school of bottom-heavy, slightly psychedelic breaks, which hovered around a tempo of 130 to 140bpm. Think electro, techno, and big beats splintering into multiple exclusive divisions, then cross-pollinating with drum 'n' bass.
