Bubba Sparxxx
The three x's mean a Southern sound done extra hardcore. Sparxxx works in the familiar Dirty club template--clipped drums, glistening keyboards, heavily rhythmic flows--but seems to up the energy and the stakes. An unlikely "Dumb and Dumber" sample can't hurt, either.

Features
T.I.
From the sounds of No Matter What, first single off new disc Paper Trail, the slick T.I. has the gruff T.I.P. on the ropes, but he hasn't quite knocked him out. This tension--full-bodied pop-rap tugged at by hard rhymes--keeps the artist's stuff rich and highly listenable.
Atmosphere
In Minneapolis, you know you've truly made it when you start breaking attendance records set by the Replacements. Slug and Ant recently did just that, laying testament to the cross-generational resonance of their latest material. Rap generations, that is. Atmosphere joins thunderous late-'80s LL beats with comical disses, half of them self-directed.
Rock the Bells 2008
It's almost unfathomable to think this year's Rock the Bells lineup could be any better than last year's, which featured a reunited Rage Against the Machine, but the '08 tour will be headlined by several reunions, including A Tribe Called Quest and the Pharcyde.
Busta Rhymes
Expect the kitchen sink on Busta's upcoming LP, The Blessed, which will feature everyone from The Neptunes to Linkin Park to Dre. Single Don't Touch Me hints at the summer-barbecue vibe of the June release: roiling hand drums pair coolly with Busta's playful, scratched up rhymes.
