Urban is an all-encompassing term for styles of electronic music that have roots to urban culture. Hip-hop, drum 'n' bass, house--as distinct as they may be--they are all urban styles. The essence of city life gets reflected through the dynamics of tough beats, soulful vocals, multi-cultural flavors, and raw groove to make you nod your head and move your feet. It's the chatter of subway tracks, the deep boom from the back of a Jeep, and the sound of the line outside the club. It could be the old-school flow of A Tribe Called Quest or the Hardstyle beatdown of Hive & Keaton. Maybe it's the Body & Soul house stylings of Joe Claussell or the ghetto-tech grooves of DJ Godfather. Whatever form it might take, it sure ain't Country music.
