Noise is a genre that defies and traditional music ideals of form or function, and concerns itself entirely with the uninhibited exploration of sound. The mediums used can be anything from lo-fi set-ups comprised of broken home electronics to intricately programmed digital sound generators, and the concepts and tactics applied to the production can be equally diverse. Although Noise is often loosely associated with experimental and industrial styles due to the influence of bands like Merzbow and Einsturzende Neubauten on many Noise artists, it employs too broad an artistic spectrum to truly have any concrete affiliations.
