His latest venture is "Stride," a spirited and authentic redux of the lilting jazz-piano style. Yarema and Roby join him for the lively mix of originals and standards.
In the early 1920s, dexterous pianists such as Luckey Roberts, James P. Johnson and Willie "The Lion" Smith developed a new style of piano playing influenced by ragtime. This difficult style featured a repeating bassline played with the right hand, while melodies and chords played simultaneously with the right hand.
