With his shimmery, smooth vocals and soft-but-not-too-soft rock, Sweden's the marcus sounds like he was born and raised on American Top 40 radio. But his soulful, acoustic guitar-driven grooves could teach some stateside pop stars a few tricks.
THE SONG “BELIEVE IN US” IS LOCALLY TOPPING THE CHARTS, WAY AHEAD OF BOTH WESTLIFE AND KYLIE. Marcus is an artist originally from Gotland but now living in Stockholm. He combines his creativity by also being an Art Director at Trigger McCann (an ad-agency). He has performed on stage along with both national and international artists like D-A-D, Titiyo, Jennifer Brown and Jan Johansen. Marcus likes to get his inspiration from New York in particular, where he used to live and work. He makes a groovy pop/soul sound along using both great male and female vocals. He likes to make people react in some way when they listen to his music and he hopes the music will lift up some unexpected feelings in the audience. For musical inspiration Marcus turns to Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz and Dàngelo. He enjoys working with musicians from different backgrounds and style. Instead of computerizing everything to perfection, he likes to add the human touch to the productions. A set like that usually pushes musicians to their best. This is something showing clearly in his latest songs Believe In Us, Nothing's Gonna Change and Stay. Håkan Holmberg is the man behind Marcus' video. Håkan is a well known producer and filmmaker in the Swedish film industry. Check out the MTV video here (windosMediaPlayer): mms://qstream-31.qbrick.com/01581/01581_1330_wis_l.wmv Why “the finger”? Fabian is the photographers seven year old son, who spontaneously flipped his finger on one shot. The image that later became the single-cover for “Believe in us”. Fabian also has a great role in the video as well as on track two (“Nothigs gonna change”) on the coming album. JanA
