In addition to the original songs, this is a set of covers that 'works'. Those who remember the original tracks, or who possess decent recordings of them, won't be disappointed at the re-creation of the authentic atmospheres in these songs: but, if a listener is prepared to live without the actual presence of the likes of Ayers, then he or she will be rewarded by the sound of another group of performers offering sympathetic first-class musicianship and experience coupled with lush modern recording techniques which allow some of these miraculous harmonies to touch even more deeply than before -- some of the harshness of the original recordings is gone. Check out the electric piano and string sounds on "Everybody Loves The Sunshine" for example. These are certainly historically-informed performances, recorded very much in the modern era.
Yes, they're not the originals, but if you heard these people live, how rewarding would the ambience be which they create!

The guitar picking was so exquisite. You felt as if you were watching them peform, or wishing you were there. Loved "Crave", and will make sure my honey hears it with me soon. Of course, the singing was fantastic. Thanks, Incognito.
