Amy Beach - Dreaming

Reviewer: finandgill

This is a uniquely feminine composition and performance...so sweet, honest and emotionally evocative. Andrys skillfully and patiently reveals the beautiful, brilliant and passionate mind of Amy Beach. Thank you so much, Andrys!

Genuine, warm, soulful

Listening to the Brahms intermezzo 118/2, Made me cry in two places where, I felt, she got the phrasing and clarity absolutely right. A truly remarkable piano composition, not trying to impress, just a sad reflective and dreamy quality which defies my descriptive abilities. Lovely playing by a sincere musician

I am a former student of Rick Robertson's so I feel obligated to share how talented he is. Rick is the most dedicated instructor I know. He realates to his students so well that if the student gets lucky, he will dedicate a piece to him. I was fortunate enough to be that student for the Nocturne. It is a beautifully written piece and I enjoy playing it still (after learning it 7 years ago). I am so proud of Rick for his accomplishments! My best wishes to him for future success.

Nocturne No 8 Op.27 No 2

Reviewer: PeterStgt

..we all know the problem of the small notes in the romantic pieces , especially Chopin`s music is full of them, they are not essential for the piece, but most beautiful for the music.

And then, when they are not clearly played, we are missing something.

Nevertheless a well done recording of good sound quality, and for sure a technical and musical improvement compared to your Moonlight Sonata.

Encouraging

and

sincerely yours,

Peter

Andrys....the ultimate "amateur"

Everyone should give themselves a treat and let this superb artist into their lives. Almost every interpretation I've heard here is the best or nearly the best ever recorded. The Chopin Nocturne from The Pianist, Bach-Siloti Prelude and Rachmaninoff Prelude Opus 23 #6 are my favorites. Andrys is an expert at revealing inner voices and other subtleties of a work's structure. I pretty much had to start from "Ground Zero" with my own piano playing after hearing her superb artistry, which has a spiritual quality. Extremely strongly recommended!

Sensitive playing. The recording quality is quite good - clear and non-distorted which is often difficult without recording in a studio. Nice job Andrys!

The Brahms Intermezzo is a wonderful piece and she captures the romantic style.

The recording is somewhat spoiled by the background sound - is this the sustaining pedal?

I have read the other three reviews and I agree with them. - To me the music affects very calmative. It seems to me that I am sitting in Andrys living room and she is playing just for me.

It is a great gift! Thank you very much indeed!

We have always steered away from Andry's as she is mediocre at best and after hearing Amy Beach, Dreaming on Classic Arts Showcase last night in all of its' glory, Andry's comes off just terrible.
