IN a shrewd marketing move, Diana Krall has pre-empted the festive season rush with an early release of some perfect "chill" standards.
This is great late-night, slow dance music, or just relaxing with your favorite cocktail! Canadian Krall enthralls with superb big band arrangements, her sultry vocals weaving in and out of the muted horns, sax solos and a guitar bossa beat on How Insensitive. Love the subtle phrasing of the artist on Isn't This a Lovely Day-a stand-out track with slow piano introduction. I'm not sure if I detected a slight lisp at the start of It Could Happen To You. Very reminiscent of the way Sinatra would perform this upbeat tune-with say the Count Basie big band.
Krall is now one of the world's best-loved artists.
Her versatility knows no bounds. She's certainly the tops with me.

Just when I despaired that all the great women of jazz would only be fond memories Diana Krall has done for the medium what Harry Connick did for the great voices of Mel Torme, Frank,Dean Martin and all the other greats! DUET PLEASE!!!!!!

Found the 3 sample tracks a bit disappointing and overly long. It is ok for playing as background music at a party but somehow, if you are expecting something more uplifting and something to touch you, this doesn't quite do it for me.
"How Insensitive" for instance, comes close to making you feel regret for love lost, but comes close and misses the spot.
Otherwise, technically excellent, flawless, controlled delivery, something you should have in your collection if you are a building a jazz collection.

Most of all the songs done by Ms. Krall are outstanding and absolutely a thrill for any mood that comes along.I love the beautiful lyrical voice .I feel connected in every way with just about every song heard....You can say I've fallen in love with Diana....I envy Elvis Costello

One of the finest artistes of our era, but this selection is utterly screwed by CNet's ham-fisted "Play" that doesn't play and its failure once again to provide downloads for musicians of her calibre. What a disappointment! Time for P2P anyone??
