THIS may not be the Essential John McLaughlin.
More the Quintessential John McLaughlin.
Here are four tracks from the guitar virtuoso's newly-released 23-track, two-CD set on Sony Legacy.
The essential McLaughlin would have to include the guitarist's work with the late Miles Davis,and,in latter years, his acoustic playing with his own touring trio.
But let's not carp.
At less than 23 bucks (USD) from Amazon, this is a bargain.
I'd buy it just for India!
McLaughlin,to my mind, has been the only guitarist to successfuly fuse Indian and Western styles.
