Freaking Brilliant

Saw these guys (and gal) in Louisville and they blew the doors off. Great variety, genius song writing, serious positive energy, a sound that is THEIRS (and that says something in these times). See you at Bonaroo.

Amazingly pleasant

In my view guitar bands need to justify their existence by doing one of two things... creating weird and wonderful original sounds, or making extremely fine-crafted songs. The Decemberists fall squarely into category two, you have heard this kind of music before, but never this good.

Picaresque

A fantastic blend of rock/ pop/folk and a hint of the old world all rolled into one. I have found myself listening to this album at least twice a day. If you want something new or just looking for saomething differet, The Decemberists are well worth it.

my grandma would like this band

Old world style never sounded so boring. When this band sounds like its about to rock they fizzle out and fade into the background like the muzak they sound like. too lite for my taste. Although the lyrics may be good I wouldn't know I couldn't sit through this music again to study them.

the first time i heard colins melodic, heartbreaking voice, i thought i was in heaven..he is truly the backbone of this amazing group.the lyrics are lovely and help back up the different sound of this band.if you enjoy this, listen to his old band, Tarkio.

I had heard about this band on a wonderful radio show called Studio 360, and have been hooked ever since! They have a wonderful, unique sound, and I love the lead singer's voice. I would suggest it to anybody, regardless of their favourite genre!
