Well done

Very emotive and intimate singer, he's unique in that. For the impression left by the lyrics, see other reviews. Clear and sharp sounds overall, slightly original also, beautiful varied melodies. Alas there is not a single song here which gets you going nuts, like exploding. It's sweet-sour.

I've been a Bright Eyes fan for quite some time now. One of my favorite things about his songs are the countless number of intriguing metaphors and analogies he uses in his lyrics. The CD is definitely worth a buy, I would say. Be sure to check out The Calandar Hung Itself, if you're able.

A nice song though the song title is rather ruthless. The lyrics is so meaningful.

One of my favorite bands...

I love Bright Eyes so much. Basically any music that Conor Oberst is involved with is gonna end up great. He is such a talented songwriter, and the music is so versatile and changes so much that you can't really get sick of Bright Eyes. They've done everything from folk to borderline techno. You should check out these other songs: The Calendar Hung Itself; Let's Not ***** Ourselves; and True Blue.

illustrated lyrics that let you know you're not the only one feeling this way

At times i feel as if conor is singing straight from the journal kept inside my head. His lyrics will paint pictures in your head that tell stories about misguided youth and the confusion i know we have all been through. If i was only allowed one band to listen to for the rest of my life it would hands down be that of bright eyes. The blend of sad and simple chords and conors heart filled cries create magnificant sound like no other. you NEED to listen to this band

Robert Smith meets Bob Dylan meets Paul Westerberg

A must-have for any serious indie rocker. Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst belts intelligent angst-charged vignettes of young adulthood over jagged and jangling melodies. His tremulous vocal stylings invoke visions of Robert Smith (The Cure) crooning compositions penned by Bob Dylan and arranged by Paul Westerberg (The Replacements).
