i had the good fortune to see lanois perform with tortoise a while back. 'didn't even know much about him then, other than that he was some well-sought-after producer.
-but i did hear some selections from his "belladonna" album and absolutely dug the track 'frozen' and his pedal steel guitar playing.>
'had to check out the show.
it was good to realize that he penned 'shine' and i just about flipped upon hearing the 'where will i be' encore. (i had previously only heard emmylou harris' version).
-this dude has definitely made his presence felt (if not known) in popular music.
*another great track is 'j.j. leaves l.a.
