For many years I have been an operatic devotee. Occassionally someone comes along and changes everything, and in many senses makes life a little more worthwhile. It was by pure chance that I heard Antony on a double CD by Rufus Wainwright (another modern age wonder) I now cannot let a day pass without that deep, resonating, perfectly pitched, ultra emotive voice entering my life.

I don't know how I never got to hear of Antony and the Johnsons before a few months back, but WOW! Not everyone's style or themes, but everyone should listen through River of Sorrow.
I ordered all three albums based on hearing one song on the radio.
I have eclectic tastes in music and don't listen to commercial radio - just TripleJ and ABC Classic, our two great public radio stations here in Australia - where I first heard one of the AatJ tracks.
Thoroughly recommended listening!

I can't believe this had such a good review by the staff here. When the track came on the radio player my ears nearly inverted, they recoiled so violently!
This guys voice is constantly shaking and wavering. It isn't a gimmick and it certainly isn't pleasant. It is purely, in my opinion, a lack of ability.
Horrible. I had to stop it. It's worse than being forced to listen to an opera at full volume when you have the worst hangover of your life. In fact, that is exactly what this reminds me of.
