Photek: 'Form&Function' Vol. 2

One of my old heroes..

I remember listening to F&F when it came out, totally blew me away. At that time it was absolutely cutting edge and very futuristic. To me, Photek represents D&B in it's purest form, the golden era when there was no nokia-ringtone acts around *gasp*

I haven't really heard the new material, but for the memories i'll drop you a five.

Excellent work, Sir.

Recoil

Exellent

For anyone who hasn't heard, go pick up "Unsound Methods". Close-to-perfection trip-hop, Recoil also worked with the NYC poet(?) Nicole Blackman on "Liquid", the material is heavenly.

Two thumbs up.

Air

They're here!

Bow down to the unbeatable masters of retro-lounge-electronica; Air.

Some people prefer Moon Safari, for me the 10k Hz is _the_ Air album, but to each their own.

Always insanily well produced, stylish as hell, perfect. This is what i love about this site, now we got Aphex, Air, Goldie, Chem Bros, Fatboy Slim etc, all these heroes of electronic music.

We're not worthy!

The Beatles

It's impossible to measure the importance of these guys to the modern rock music

Basicly, all the bands nowadays are imitating The Beatles, knowingly or not.. some of their songs are really, really complex. These guys are about more than just some cheesy pop songs (as some of their earlier stuff do not compare to their later works, "Revolver" or "Sgt.Peppers..")

I would say that "Sgt. Peppers.." is almost flawless in every way, and that way ONE of the best rock-albums ever made (even that it contains some not-so great tracks like "when im 64" or "lovely rita").

Oh, and there's also a deeper, (much) darker side to their stuff too..*grin*

Explosions In The Sky

Atmospheric, melancholic post-rock

I remember hearing the "Those who tell.." about the time it came out, and I was blown away. It's still probalby their best work to date, although the Friday Night Lights soundtrack has been in rotation in here.. none of their songs really sticks out as a hit, althogh there are great tracks like "From west texas". Love 'em, great for chilling out or even sleep to
