Katrine Gislinge

well worth exploring....

Gislinge's interpretation of the Fantasie- Impromptu is one of the best I've heard, notice how well she transitions from the 1st to the 2nd section. Only the ending is a bit perfunctory, as is the ending of the Schumann. Her Fur Elise is most interesting....I would prefer more dynamic contrast from 2:30 to 3:00. Overall, the piano is in reasonably good shape, Gislinge's phrasing is noteworthy, and the Chopin especially is worth hearing!

Filippo Balducci

sublime Chopin!

What a pleasure to hear Chopin played in such a musical way, with no note spinning!! The Opus 28 #16 is as light as a feather, and the "raindrop" prelude has rarely been played this musically. Clearly an extremely gifted genius, and a joy to hear and hear again!!

WOW!!

This music is so ethereal, the voices seem to be suspended in time. I love the poignant harmonies of the Alleluia as well as the more forward looking progressions of The Woman Turns Into a Fish. Emotional, fervent performances, too! This gets a "6" on a scale of"5".

Andrys....the ultimate "amateur"

Everyone should give themselves a treat and let this superb artist into their lives. Almost every interpretation I've heard here is the best or nearly the best ever recorded. The Chopin Nocturne from The Pianist, Bach-Siloti Prelude and Rachmaninoff Prelude Opus 23 #6 are my favorites. Andrys is an expert at revealing inner voices and other subtleties of a work's structure. I pretty much had to start from "Ground Zero" with my own piano playing after hearing her superb artistry, which has a spiritual quality. Extremely strongly recommended!

Sean Bennett

vigorous playing

There are lot of good things about Sean's playing. A lot of dynamic contrast, movement of lines, and feeling for the long line. He also has fast technique to burn, as evidenced by the repeated notes in the Wedding March- WOW! On the other hand, I thought he was recorded a little too closely, thus a true pianissimo doesn't register. He can also be a bit "bangy"at times, especially at the end of the Carmen Variations, which was a bit overdone. I also thought I heard humming on occasion...please, one Glenn Gould is enough! So, listening to Sean play is a bit like too much Fettucini Alfredo...very rich and ultimately hard to swallow. I would like to hear him in a delicate piece like Debussy Reflets dans l'eau, as I suspect he can be very poetic if the occasion calls for it!
