Very nice, this is my favorite kind of breakbeat. The rhythms have melodic elements to them that mesh well with the arrangements. The beats are deep enough to get lost in, and the tracks sound like songs and not just a bunch of loops. And, most of all, it's actually funky! Easily one of the top 5 breakbeat artists on here.

The ultimate "boing boing" band, in my opinion. By "boing boing" I mean a certain sort of nasty swinging rhythm that is not funk and shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as swing. It's like the Seinfeld theme music -- highly annoying and not "funky" in the least. If funk sounded like this in the 70's it would have died a quick but painful death, never to be resurrected except by Yanni or some junky smooth-jazz band. Unfortunately there seem to be hundreds of bands just like this on the internet. It's a shame that Funk has to put up with being associated with ***** of this sort.

Oh man, just what we need in this world -- more "smooth jazz". There is no "clarity, soul, or depth". There is plenty of nastiness, however, on display as hackneyed licks and uptight drumming combine with the "shine" of smooth jazz. The drums aren't funky, more specifically the rhythms are wrong (too much of a rock or swing groove) and the drums sound too "big" to work for cementing a groove. That sound is o.k. for arena rock, but it fails miserably for funk. Once again, a modern so-called "funk" band that totally misses the mark and the point.

This is the real deal. The productions gel, there's plenty of fun stuff going on to keep the listener occupied, but most importantly it feels "funky", that's not just a label that's being thrown around here for no reason. The compositions are focused, no dross or stray sounds. All-around great vibe; I'm downloading these tracks for my personal playlist.

Not very funky, I'm afraid. The arrangements are somewhat interesting, with some nice 70's synth sounds, but those darn drums just don't groove. That, and the basslines are all flat with little soul. Mostly though it's the drums that don't have punch or focus, being too washed-out to really nail the groove. Like many artists these days who label their music as "funk" or consider their sound "funky", they are neither. It's television theme music, not real funk (by that I mean the kind of music you'd hear leading into a late-night talkshow, not the real funk from shows such as S.W.A.T.). Along with these flaws, the random vocal shouts don't mix with the mid-to-late 70's jazz-funk vibe the band is trying to create. If you're in search of the true funk, I advise you to look elsewhere.
