Stax 50th Anniversary Celebration

Masterpieces

Private Number...William Bell and Judy Clay. An all-time favorite...relatively obscure songm glad it was unearthed and featured here. It has a fastastic guitar lick that was used 30 years later by Rappin' Forte in his hit Player's Club!!! Bought his tune just to hear that ***** guitar lick. Love to you, Stax.

Dreams of Knoxville

Erase all of the current Top 40 stuff on radio and play dream pop all day and the world would be a groovier place...start the broadcast with this band. A poet's lyrics with a passionate delivery.

A Tapestry of Folk Tenderness

Damien DeRose is not afraid to sing bravely in a gentle voice. His songs are woven with high poignancy and low, sweet tenderness. No apologies. I sense his songs coming from that last blink of night just before the sun comes up. He is Smith and Gibbard and Mercer without the bitter aftertaste.

Play It, Brothers

This ain't yer daddy's old folk song...but an infectious full country-rocker with enough fringed-leather harmony and tambourine banging to satisfy your alt. country crowd and yer dad.

A Tasty Alt-Country Recipe

I agree completely with neitcho (above). This is some of the sweetest alt. country around...but not sugary. The tunes are catchy. And there is a dash of weary twang that gives it the dark longing of a lonely country road. Turn up your volume.
