Amy Winehouse: the saga continues

Looks like the Amy Winehouse saga has taken a sour new turn. After allegedly headbutting a guy who was (allegedly) hailing her a cab after a night of (alleged) boozing--not to mention also (allegedly) punching another--Winehouse (literally) took a morning trip over to London's Holborn Police Station, where she was (woefully) arrested on suspicion of assault. Reports also swirled that she ditched out on cab fare--ironic, of course, now that she's being counted among Britain's wealthiest young musicians.

We'll spare you the snarky commentary--there's plenty enough out there--and instead leave you with a little bit of why everyone gives so much of a damn about Amy in the first place: her music.

4-28-08 Update: Not all the Amy headlines are bitter. NME reports that Winehouse will join Leona Lewis, Razorlight, Eminem, Duffy, Keane, Sugababes and Jamelia at London's Hyde Park for a concert celebrating the 90th birthday of Nelson Mandela.
