This virtual version of the old "pet rock" novelty fails to impress, even though it is free. As you might guess, Babble Rock is designed to fire off a random joke, quotation, or saying when you click it. The interface is a simple small stone-looking object that doesn't even have facial features for added personality. You also won't find skins or any real customization options, though you can add your own "babbles" to the program's database. But the biggest problem with this application is its terrible speaking ability. We could never really make out what Babble Rock was trying to say, thanks to awful pronunciation and lack of a tool for slowing down its speech speed (though a few of the jokes sounded very raunchy--from what little we could tell). In short, this program could potentially be mildly amusing, but it's not too funny in its current form.
