From ITAL ORO: H.G.C. Handy Gems Calculator is a useful tool for diamond and precious gems faceters. It is designed to calculate all the final physical dimension of a faceted gemstone (length, width, pavilion, crown, and weight) starting from only one measurement, taken on a piece of rough material. The program calculates in base of the proportion ratios given by the user.

This narrowly focused program calculates the physical dimensions of certain gemstones, but H.G.C. Handy Gem Calculator has some minor flaws. You need not install the program--just run the executable file. After which, you can choose from a drop-down list of gems and input length, pavilion, and crown widths and weight in the upper portion. Enter one of the final measurements such as Width Target, hit the Calculate button and the program will return the other final measurements. The small interface has some misspelled labels such as "yeld," "teget," and "lenght," which doesn't look very professional for such a relatively expensive product. H.G.C.Handy Gem Calculator is preloaded with a list of precious stones; unfortunately, only three of the 71 items on the list can be accessed during the trial, and you can't add additional items. There's little to recommend this program except ease of use, and most gemstone collectors will want a more robust output.
