For each opened file, additional information is displayed: handle value, read/write/delete access, file position, the process that opened the file. This application displays detailed information about all opened files and directories and simplifies terminating processes. OpenedFilesView resembles a spreadsheet of information about all open files and directories. Details displayed include process name, created time, handle, path, attributes, and sizes. As with a spreadsheet, columns are easy to sort or move. You can choose to display only networked files or directories. All the information is primarily aimed at helping advanced users solve sharing violation errors. Windows error messages list the problem file and OpenedFilesView lists the process locking the file. You can then simply chose and kill the process in OpenedFilesView. You can also save selected items into a text file or create a comprehensive report in HTML format. Advanced users will find this lightening quick program replaces much of the Task Manager's functionality. This freeware is a must-have tool for system administrators and other advanced users.
