Editor's review

They grow up so fast. We remember when Romeo was Lil'; now he's getting looks from the NBA. Thankfully, Romeo, like dad Master P, knows how to balance the ball with his first love. Dueting here with crooner Akon, he throws serious New Orleans drawls over Hollywood beats.

Biography

Romeo entered the hip-hop scene 7 years ago as something of an anomaly: a pint-sized rapper with squeaky clean lyrics. He immediately topped the Billboard singles chart with "My Baby" from his self-titled debut album and usurped Michael Jackson's spot as the youngest solo artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart with his first single. The song ranked first on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Sales chart for 10 straight weeks. In 2002 he released his sophomore CD Gametime, featuring the hit dance song "2 Way." His 2004 follow up, Romeoland, found success with the hit single "My Cinderella," featuring a performance from Nickelodeon alumni Nick Cannon. Teaming up with his little brother Vercy Miller a/k/a Young V and his cousins C- Los, Big Doug and Lil' D, to form the new teen super group, The Rich Boyz, Romeo showed his fans his new grown-up style on their debut CD Young Ballers, released November 2005.

The oldest of seven children in a close-knit family, born Percy Romeo Miller in New Orleans, Lil' Romeo was five when his father, rap impresario Master P's, No Limit empire began to rise. "I used to see my dad and all his brothers rhyming, and I knew I wanted to do that one day," he recalls, revealing, "Me and my cousin used to sneak in my dad's studio and record songs with his engineer just for fun."

No longer tiptoeing around, the "tween" sensation grabbed center stage in two Nickelodeon concert specials and acted in popular television series' such as The Hugleys, The Proud Family" and "One-On-One." He proved himself a serious actor in a leading role in the Universal blockbuster feature film, Honey, along side new Hollywood darling Jessica Alba (2003). The film ranked #1 at the box office and was a sleeper hit of the year.

Romeo's 2nd album Game Time featured a diversity of upbeat tunes he penned with his dad, and his 3rd album Romeoland featured a more mature Romeo, but always playful and even a little boastful. On Romeoland he lets everyone know that his future plans include becoming the first hip hop billionaire.

He intends to heed the advice of his dad, though: "Keep your head up, stay humble, have fun and get an education." There's a footnote too, Romeo informs. "Always have a back-up plan."

And it seems as though Romeo's back-up plan is just as stellar. Just like his dad, Romeo enjoys making moves on the basketball court. "I'd like to be one of the best players in the NBA," muses the performer. As a high school senior, Romeo is ranked in the top 20 of high school basketball players in the country. And the University of Southern California, known for their championship basketball teams, noticed Romeo's talent early on offering him a full scholarship in his junior year of high school!

The very busy now 18-year old manages to find time to play on both the basketball AND football teams. If he's not playing basketball or football, he's practicing basketball or football, all while also earning a straight "A" average in school! Romeo learned from his dad at a young age to work hard and give 150% at whatever you do. And hard work will definitely pay off for this professional athlete, actor, rapper and business man.

Romeo is set to release his 4th album Gumbo Station, later this year. He also stars in the feature film "God's Gift" (Urbanworks Entertainment) a family drama, and the family comedies "Crush On U" (Urbanworks) and "Uncle Willy's Family," (NewLine Home Entertainment). Produced by his dad entrepreneur and rap star Master P, all 3 films are available on DVD and in stores now.
