Editor's review

Above & Beyond have taken their shimmering production approach to a euphoric, anthemlike level and applied it to a cohesive artist album, "Tri-Star," which already finds itself in every trance aficionado's DJ record box. Featuring big room atmospherics, fuzzy rich melodies, and hypnotic dreamlike vocals, a sampling of Above & Beyond is a just a brief glimpse into the depth and breadth of this deity's work.

Biography

Above & Beyond are one of the most exciting talents in the global dance music scene today. Their genre-defining productions - often released on their own Anjunabeats label - have become an essential tool for the world's leading DJ's and have set the benchmark for the new generation of trance producers. Above & Beyond - aka Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamaki - have recorded under a number of different aliases including Aalto, Free State, Nitromethane, Oceanlab, P.O.S and Tranquility Base.

Equally comfortable behind the decks as in the studio, as DJ's Above & Beyond have rocked dancefloors at venues such as Godskitchen, Gatecrasher and Cream, as well as internationally. Above & Beyond were also ranked 19th DJ Magazine?s recent poll of the world?s top 100 DJ's.

The boys recently scooped Radio 1's prestigious Essential Mix Of The Year Award, prompting Radio 1 resident Pete Tong to describe them as 'the UK's new trance superstars'. Above & Beyond were also shortlisted in 3 categories at the Miami Winter Music Awards, including in the category of best dance group alongside the Chemical Brothers, Scissor Sisters & Basement Jaxx.

Recent productions from Above & Beyond have included "Surrender" and "Getting Away" under their Tranquility Base guise, and the latest Above & Beyond singles, "No One On Earth" - which featured Faithless' Zoe Johnston on vocals ? and "Air For Life", a collabotration with Andy Moor. The tracks have found with favour with everyone from Radio 1's Pete Tong and Judge Jules, to international A-listers such as Paul Van Dyk, Oakenfold and Tiesto. In addition to their own productions, the trio have performed remix duties for the likes of Madonna, Dido, Britney and Delerium.

In June 2005 Above & Beyond released Anjunabeats Volume 3, the latest in a series of mix albums designed to showcase the best music on A&B's Anjunabeats label. Meanwhile in March 2006, the trio will release their first artist album, Tri-State, featuring collaborations with Zoe Johnston, Richard Bedford and Andy Moor. The second single from the album Alone Tonight, will be released at the same time as the album.
