This Polish composer and performer stands out for his ability to assimilate in his melding of existing snippets, and in a larger sense, as he brings genres into unlikely discussions. His mix of traditional lines and homegrown threads adds up to a sort of eclectic classical-folk.
I graduated from the Warsaw Music Academy where I obtained a degree in piano. Initially, I was more inclined toward becoming a composer rather than a performer. I have composed music for theater plays, wrote songs, worked as a music coordinator, and served as the music director of principal festivals and major concerts of popular music. Over a decade ago, I withdrew from the above field and returned to full-time playing. My aim as to explore and discover something new in the realm of piano, create my very own slant on genuine and original repertoire and, in general, experiment with piano techniques. Alongside my own compositions, my repertoire boasts nearly two hundred original transcripts and paraphrases of pieces of music- whether classical, folk or popular. Perhaps the most peculiar thing about myself is that for nearly two decades I haven’t actually written down a single note on paper, as I tend to rely exclusively on my musical memory. e-mail: sobiescy@poczta.onet.pl
