Andyï¿?s background of mixed musical experience has led to an incredibly diverse career. Having trained as an orchestral flautist, as principal flute of the National Youth Orchestra in the early 1970ï¿?s and 3 years at the Royal College of Music, he soon branched out into the London musical scene, from dance band dates (working for Nat Temple, Joe Loss, Eric Delaney & Sidney Lipton among others) to Ballet Rambert, taking in The National Theatre and the formation of the Myhra Saxophone Quartet with John Harle.
He soon found work in the thriving ï¿?sessionï¿? world and was busy depping in the London orchestras and on numerous West End shows. An interest in ï¿?ethnicï¿? instruments seemed to fit well alongside work as both an orchestral flautist and a commercial ï¿?woodwind doublerï¿?. He has played with an enormous list of renowned artists, including, Phillip Glass, Don Sebesky, Hans Zimmer, Phil Ramone, Angela Morley, Danny Elfman, Brian May, Guy Chambers, Randy Edelman, Terence Blanchard, John Williams, Stanley Myers, Richard Blackford, Anne Dudley, David Arnold, Christopher Gunning , Michel Legrand, Howard Goodall, Stephen Warbeck, Carl Davis, Elmer Bernstein, Rachel Portman, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Vince Mendoza, Craig Armstrong, Johnathon Tunick, Michael Nyman, George Fenton, among many more.

The early 80's saw the start of work with the "Michael Nyman Band", with whom he still tours and records, and a most enjoyable period as a member of the folk-rock band, "The Home Service", recording albums with them and appearing at leading folk festivals. He is also associated with John Wilson, in whoï¿?s orchestra he plays principal flute and also sits on the baritone chair in his big band. Andy is principal flute of The National Symphony Orchestra, and works with many other chamber groups, including The Ceruti Ensemble , London Saxophonic and Saxpak.
Recent years have included work in new Andrew Lloyd Webber productions, "Whistle Down The Wind", "The Beautiful Game", for which he was named in the Sunday Times review, ï¿?Bombay Dreamsï¿? and ï¿?The Woman In Whiteï¿?.ï¿? Other recent shows include ï¿?Sinatra At The London Palladiumï¿? and at present, ï¿?Wickedï¿?.
Apart from his appearances on hundreds of other peoples albums, heï¿?s written and recorded for EMIï¿?s KPM library and featured on solo Panpipe cdï¿?s for Virgin, Crimson and Emi.
2005 saw the release of ï¿?Andy Findon ï¿?Trackedï¿? on the ï¿?Quartzï¿? label and his second album ï¿?When The Boat Comes Inï¿? is now available.
