Biography

-- New York City based recording artist Chris Bray is the one-man writing, performing and producing machine behind the simulacra known as Arockalypse and the Amazing Trans-Metropolitans, or ATM for short. A recording artist of significant and uncharacteristic depth in the rock world, Bray and his alter ego, Arockalypse, occupy the same space where other well known do-it-yourself control freaks such as Prince, Todd Rundgren and Trent Reznor have formerly left marks by creating spectacular, exigent and demanding music with nothing but their fertile imaginations and a modest home studio.

With song download numbers approaching an estimated 500,000, numerous song awards from garageband.com, and a regular in the top 3 on the iuma chatrs, Bray has been described as a flirtatious fusion between David Bowie, Beck, Marilyn Manson, and Frank Zappa. His extremely compelling self- produced blend of rock, glam, techno and metal is a relentless assault of mesmerizing vocals, driving beats, spectacular guitar work, and sharp hooks.

Bray's debut effort, "The Ark", is an uplifting and sometimes disturbing and frenetic concept record of vision. Drawing on elements of futurism, and combining references to mythology, religion, and alchemical texts, Bray creates a vast and sweeping world rich in lyrical and sonic content that speaks to our collective notions of progress, faith, desire, power and perfection. For 45 minutes of pure intensity, Bray's passionate and powerful vocals emote his unique and intelligent lyrics over an endless barrage of complex and multi- layered instrumental motifs and soundscapes.
