If you think hip-hop cannot maintain its intensity without vocals, check out Berkeley's Asa Taccone. Taccone constructs forceful, instrumental-based hip-hop in which bluesy piano licks top off tough, distinctly West Coast beats. This may be from Northern California, but Tupac would have approved.
