Well, it has been YEARS getting this off the ground but my solo project / new band thing (whatever you want to call it) is now up and running. The name of this project...is...ASHES dIVIDE. Some of you may already know this as I have gotten mucho gracious responses from my myspace page (myspace.com/ashesdivide) where 1.5 songs are up on now. The video for "The Stone" is also posted on the website, and the album is in stores now. The name of the record is Keep Telling Myself It's Alright. This is by far, my most proud creation to date. I received a lot of incredible encouragement and help making this record from Danny Lohner who co-produced it with me, Johnette Napolitano who co-wrote and provided vocal production on a few tracks, Paz Lenchantin who co-wrote a song, Josh Freese who provided the drums we have all come to love throughout the years (these are some of his finest moments in my opinion), Matt Skiba who pulled my head out of the sand on a song, Devo Keenan and Dean Sainz who threw down some last minute goodness, and from Maynard who believed in me enough to put me on the map with APC. "The Stone" is now at radio and if you listen to it and like it, do the unthinkable, call your local station and request it. If you don't, the radio programmers assume you think it sucks and they pull it (which does suck). Or if you want to really help a brother out, contact Island Def Jam about joining the street team who have been awesome in spreading the word. Being in APC has afforded me a head start with ASHES dIVIDE but it will take a lot of work to get the word out. I just bumped into a few friends of mine who were APC fans and when I told them about this project they were like "Wow, what? When did you start that?" ...See, I need your help. I just hired a live band to take these songs on the road. Our tour starts in early May in Florida. A few surprise last minute warmup shows should materialize in Southern California in April. The band includes Jeff Friedl on drums, Matt McJunkins on bass, and Andy Gerold on guitar. We started rehearsals this week, and have much to do to pull off the record live. It is going really well so far. Lastly, many of you ask about the future of APC. As of right now we have no concrete plans for APC stuff. Maynard and I have talked a bit lately about "what if..." but he is currently focused on Puscifer (his new project which came out a few months ago) and I am putting all my energy into ASHES dIVIDE for the foreseeable future.
