They're an Icelandic indie outfit, so naturally Bang Gang's Web site includes lots of photos of dreamy-eyed people swimming in thermal pools. And the music sounds like it was made after a therapeutic soak: alt-pop that can go foggy or distorted, but either way is couched in mystical production.
Biography
Find What You Get is a teaser for the gorgeously sullen and icy full-length from Bang Gang, Something Wrong, which is seeing its U.S. debut early next year on From Nowhere Records. For those who may not know, Bardi Johannsson is the genius behind Bang Gang's Icelandic brand of haunting and emotionally-heavy pop. Taking a cue from folks like Tindersticks, Black Box Recorder, and Talk Talk, Johannsson and a slew of guests create a complex and calculated story of breezy and cloudy hazes of sonic beauty. This EP features a few tracks from Something Wrong, including the superb single "Find What You Get". Johannsson has also played as one-half of Lady & Bird with chanteuse Keren Ann. Bang Gang allows him to release his wonderful solo works that are sure to stun many a fan of sophisticated pop songs.
