Electro-bubblegum pop quartet Barcelona is one of those bands you knew existed but really didn't know where to begin looking to find it. Transcending the power of electronic by plugging in a delicate taste of '80s with an uncanny pop universalism, Barcelona sparks vintage thoughts of Commodore 64s, feathered hair, and pegged pants.
Having been raised in Washington, D.C., during the Reagan regime of the '80s, it was hard for anyone not to be under the influence of new wave pop and Commodore 64s, let alone the members of Barcelona. Comprised of Jennifer Carr (bass), Jason Korzen (guitar/singer), Christian Scanniello (drums), and Ivan Ramiscal (moog/keyboards/ guitar), the band somehow found time away from their love of soccer and computers to add their own dose of synth pop and indie to play their only show in 1999 and release their first full-length Simon BASIC that same year. Zero One Infinity was issued in fall 2000. Their last album was Transhuman Revolution was released by their close friend and producer, Trevor hollAnd, on his pulCec label.
