Editor's review

Tim Byrd's Virginia R&B production company knows the plight of young, unknown artists, as until recently Byrd was one, too. That's a perspective that can only help Beats Etc., which has already begun honing a trademark sound that crosses Philly soul with smooth Southern R&B and nimble hip-hop beats.

Biography

Tim Byrd had a dream. That dream was to write songs and have them played on the radio. That dream came true in the year 2000. While working with Blackground Records [home to the late Aaliyah now home to R&B artist Tony Baxton and Pop artist JoJo] as a producer, Tim co-wrote and produced a song entitled “Not Enough” for the labels artist Outsiderz 4 Life. That same year, “Not Enough” became radios #1 most added record. Tim knew he had what it took to make it. While working with Outsiderz 4 Life, Tim was asked to co-write a song with producer Timbaland for the Steven Segal and DMX film titled “Exit Wounds”. The title of the song was “Hell Yeah” and can be heard at the end of the film. While watching the movie, Tim was excited to hear his song and see his name on the big screen. He knew he’d finally arrived. As the credits rolled, Tim searched for his name…..No name. The song was there….everyone else got their credits, but Tim’s name was no where to be found. He was devastated. That experience alone would drive anyone with strong aspirations of being a songwriter into depression. Not Tim. He vowed to never let that happen to him again. And the only way for that to happen was to start his own company.

In 2002, Beats Etc. Productions was born. With the experience Tim gained throughout the music industry, it was time to start his own movement. With the help of his partner Brian Branch and songwriter friends Bernard [‘Nard] Biddle and Ray Hopkins, Beats Etc. Production will be a reality. The production company will sign and develop up and coming artists. They will also market and distribute these same artists to music lovers around the world. Aside from signing, developing, marketing and distributing artists, Beats Etc. Productions will also provide production services to other artists, companies, TV & Film producers and eventually video game and ring tone companies. The goal is to provide quality music to the listeners and top notch service to our clients. You can rest assure that Tim Byrd will not have to worry about seeing his credit.
