Hughes doesn't sound that much like Beck, but the comparisons are inevitable: both make an electro-tinged sort of lounge-folk, and both have deceptively rich voices. More importantly, the North Carolina artist is proving himself a humorist on par with the self-loathing "loser."

Hidden behind flowing rusty hair and a Shakespearean beard is Benji Hughes, a complex, and often funny dreamer with a harmonious voice. The singer songwriter from North Carolina subtly infuses his music with flavors and colors, evoking the numerous feelings that love brings. From happiness to misery, Benji describes relationships with friends, women and life in general.
