California cowboys deliver the kind of fist-pumping backroom Americana that truckers use to stay awake on long hauls. Chugging guitars and cocksure vocals insure that the bar stays rowdy until last call. Have a good time, then grab a cab home.
Big Medicine Head rolled out of Santa Cruz, California. Their first two albums, "Rex Hotel" and "Cool Electric Sky", were marked by country inflected power pop, wry social observation, and, for some reason, an abundance of rolling Nevada desert highway imagery, behind some whiskey and very little sleep. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Bob Gemmell and bass player started BMH. JD Devros (guitar, keyboards) Jeff Davis (drums) and Bruce Rockwell (guitar) filled out the roster. BMH has been featured on the College Music Journal cd, along with artists such as They Might Be Giants and Steve Earle.
