The English art-rock act followed up their bestselling debut, "Silent Alarm," with a haunting concept piece about trying to fill the void--so we shouldn't be surprised at the ambition of new cut "Mercury." Kele Okereke's searching vocals are set off by fierce postmodern rhythms and sour guitar.
London’s Bloc Party will be releasing their brand new single, “Mercury,” on August 12th via all digital service providers. “Mercury” was played for the first time last night on Radio One’s Zane Lowe Show. Speaking live on the show about the new song and the ongoing recording session for the band’s third album, singer/guitarist Kele Okereke said, “We’re in the middle of it. We’re still writing and working on it, so it’s quite hard to have an overview, really. We are making the record I always wanted us to make so we just can’t wait for it to be done.”
