Blonde Redhead is an explosion of hypersexual and intelligent articulation where each element is seductive and charismatic. Vocalists Kazu and Amedeo use their exotic voices to shriek and whisper over highly structured yet flowing arrangements. Though frequently compared to Sonic Youth, Blonde Redhead diverges beautifully from its predecessors with an atmosphere that's energetic and expressive, yet pensive.
This trio, consisting of singer/guitarist Kazu Makino and twin brothers Amedeo and Simone Pace (singer/guitarist and drummer/programmer, respectively), got their name from a song by DNA, the early-80's No Wave band from NYC. Their beginning is one that reads like fiction: the three, gastronomes all, coincidentally meet at a New York restaurant, and over a meal, sow the seeds of a band that would go on to become one of the underground's most beloved groups.
A unique collection of multilingual heartbreakers, Blonde Redhead has worked with a wide variety of artists ranging from Guy Picciotto (Fugazi) and The Red Hot Chili Peppers to Toko Yasuda (Enon) and Vern Rumsey (Unwound). BRH released two albums on Smells Like Records before coming to Touch and Go in 1997. During their tenure on Touch and Go, they released three full lengths, and EP, and two 7? singles.
