From the great mountain music town of Asheville, N.C., comes Bobby and Blue Ridge Tradition, a traditional bluegrass quintet fronted by legendary banjo master Bobby Anderson. With tremendous chops all around and a sound steeped in the classics, the group breathes new energy into the genre.

Biography

Bobby and Blue Ridge Tradition from Asheville, NC is an exciting five-piece bluegrass band that plays a unique blend of traditional bluegrass and acoustic music.

At the core of the group is Bobby Anderson on banjo. Bobby's 45+ years of musical experience is the essence of the group's sound. Bobby has an incredible ear for musical composition and arrangement, in addition to helping the group shape each song into a form that is nothing short of pleasing. His unique style of banjo playing is very distinct, as is his vocal ability and range.

Chuck Wagner provides the guitar work for the group. His rhythm playing is as solid as it gets, but his lead breaks really stand out. But guitar is not Chuck's only talent. He is vocally gifted as well, with a smooth and memorable baritone voice.

The solid and dependable bass of Cas Haskell is a tremendous foundation for Bobby and Bluegrass Tradition to build upon. Cas has years of experience playing bass in several different types of music, so he is able to incorporate many different styles not typically displayed by most bluegrass bass players. In addition to playing bass, Cas has a knack for writing clever lyrics and has collaborated with Bobby to develop some great original material for the group.

Pam Crowhurst, with her unforgettable fiddle style adds a dimension of her own to Bobby and Blue Ridge Tradition. Though classically trained in violin as a child, Pam has crossed over into bluegrass with a passion. The wonderful fiddle variations and fills that Pam assembles are sure to move any listener.

Jim Turpin completes the instrument ensemble on mandolin. Although the mandolin is a small instrument, it adds a dynamic edge to the music. Jim provides a solid chop to counter the rhythm of the bass and guitar and attacks the lead instrumental breaks with a bold and fearless finesse. Jim also provides a spirited vocal element, whether singing a lead or tenor part.

Bobby, Chuck and Jim combine their voices to produce a harmony that complements and completes the total package for Blue Ridge Tradition.
