Editor's review

Here comes fiery electric guitar-riffing from a veteran player launching his second solo outing. Backed by a strong ensemble, Bobby Manriquez lets loose with sharp-edged lead playing in the blues genre, while a healthy slathering of funk keeps us on the move.

Biography

The seventies were great years for a young Manriquez; The Kennedy Center, recording for A&M, and Capital records, lavish tours, and write-ups in publications such as The Washington Post and Rolling Stone Magazine set the tone of that era. Said to be a vital part in Nils Lofgren's "best band yet" added much more of the same. He shared the stage w/ KISS, Santana, Jeff Beck, Journey, Fleetwood Mac, Earth Wind and Fire, and many others.

After a hiatus of more than a decade, Bobby was hired on by soul legend Wilson Pickett, and in 2001, Bobby released his first solo album, ?Another Shade of Blue(s).??The CD made?its way, by way of rave review, to RollingStone.com, The Washington Post, Blues Revue Magazine?and many other spots of note. The beat goes on with the creation of his second solo work, "Prayin' the Blues (blu funk),"a star-studded CD. ( including playing by E-Street Band's NILS LOFGREN, Muddy Waters' "Steady-Rollin' " BOB MARGOLIN, late Miles Davis?great jazzy MIKE STERN, Chaka Kahn's Rufus bassman BOBBY WATSON, the Nighthawks harpist extraordinaire MARK WENNER, and others. About "Prayin' the Blues (blu funk)," Blues Revue Magazine, 1/2005, declared,"This one will AMAZE!"?Check it out and see/ hear for yourselves!
