An American composer currently based in Tokyo, Barker pens neo-classical scores that range from sweeping, string-laden Americana that recalls Barber--to more avant-garde film work. In each case, Barker bears a welcome blend of tonal ambition and dynamic grace.
Bram Barker's film, orchestral, rock and game music has been performed throughout Asia, North America, Europe and Australia. After receiving his Masters in Music through a scholarship from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music in 1999, Bram moved to New York where he began composing for film, while teaching Music Theory at Essex County College. He moved to Tokyo in 2003 where he is currently teaching at Waseda University. Recent projects include the music for the highly acclaimed "NanoKids" series http://nanokids.rice.edu/, a performance by the Shepherd School Symphony Orchestra, and an educational series for Japanese pre-kinders. His music is published by Rootcentral New York.
