Famed drum 'n' bass label Bassbin Recordings releases another groundbreaking single featuring Dublin producer and DJ Breakage. Opening with taut dancehall riddims fleshed out with reverberating (and hair-raising) dub vocals, the tattered jump-up grooves contain enough sonic activity for the whole home prefecture to freak to. Let the drums begin.
BASSBIN BIOGRAPHY 04 Bassbin started life as a club night in 1996, its mission: to introduce a local audience new to drum n bass to the sounds of veteran UK luminaries such as Photek, 4-Hero, Doc Scott, Ed Rush, Optical and Trace, amongst others. Taking the time to build a loyal audience with a series of select monthly nights, the stage was then set for the launch of Refuge (Bassbin s weekly beats session and Ireland s first - and longest-running weekly drum n bass club) in 1999. Employing the considerable talents of a highly talented local cru (Rohan and Naphta alongside Beta 2 & Zero Tolerance, Kenny & Keevo, and Elmo and Polska), the club also features regular visits from our favourite established selectors (Bailey, Breakage, Equinox, Calibre, Flight and Digital). More than 8 years on, Refuge enjoys that highly sought-after reputation: a drum n bass night where all styles can be heard, and where diversity is genuinely encouraged. The next logical step in promoting longevity for the indigenous scene was to launch the first of our labels. Bassbin Recordings debuted in 1999, and by the second 12 , the label was already garnering rave reviews and critical acclaim from producers and DJs within the UK scene and beyond. From there, further releases from the raw talents of Beta 2 and ZT help put the label on the map, and Bassbin sealed a distribution deal with SRD in September 2003 the first non-UK drum n bass label to do so. 2003 also saw the introduction of Breakage to the camp; the boy wonder and kindred spirit in sound delivered his massive Jungle anthem So Vain for Bassbin, and from there firmly guaranteed major player interest in Bassbin in the future; A-list DJs currently spinning Bassbin material include Goldie, Doc Scott, Fabio, Bryan G, Storm, Marky, Dillinja, Calibre, Digital, Ltj Bukem and Marcus Intalex etc etc. The coming year will see releases from Calibre, Digital, Paradox, Equinox and Senses, as well as new material from Beta 2 & Zero T. With the label currently on a roll, special label nights are planned for Belgium, Holland, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, Spain, France and the UK, with a label tour planned for the States. Meanwhile Bassbin s first LP is also in the pipeline a release is scheduled for Jan 05, with a mix CD to be released shortly after.
