Biography

In the event there’s a trio of spry twenty-something’s sweating all over the place and screaming “TOUCH LIKE YOU WANT IT” over and over again in your face, then there’s a good chance you’re experiencing THE BRILLIANT RED LIGHTS.

Those twenty-something’s would be:

Aaron Davidson: Voice, Guitars

Evan Michalski: Bass, Voice

Noah Clark: Drums, Momentum

Those are the essentials: three friends from Sacramento trying to play harder than they did the night before. Their album contains this ambition. Recorded by Alex Newport (Mars Volta, At The Drive-In, Locust, Brazil) in Los Angeles, TOUCH LIKE YOU WANT IT mobilizes 12 manically structured songs, featuring approximately 94 unique riffs. The center of the BRL universe leads in unlikely directions.

BRL loves hooks, but shies away from repetition. When Evan and Aaron met, they decided that punk music could be a simultaneous awareness of all other types of music. That beginning grew bigger and smaller; the band pushed its technical ability and optimism outward, while the attention to detail became more acute. With Newport’s assistance, a credo was forged: Every moment and space must be touched.

Newport proved an ideal match for the band. His sound is big, real, and clear. Every song on TOUCH snaps hard and sounds loud at any volume. BRL navigate a fierce landscape of pop songs, evidenced by radio-friendly sing-a-longs like “Declaration Of Purpose” and “New Flags,” in addition to limber riff-a-thons like “Potential Midnights” and “Tough Colors,” as well as slow burning neo-anthems like “Numb Songs” and “We Need A Better Language”

Now paired with San Ramon, CA label AGENT RECORDS, the future sees Brilliant Red Lights on the road and heading towards you; playing a little harder, yelling a little louder, and getting a little closer to your face.
