Art rock's rebellion used to end at making guitars ugly; these days just picking up a six-string could count as right-wing in some circles. Channels stick to synths, and deeply processed ones at that, offering a gnarly experimental assault that remains impressively legible as rock.
Biography
You've never seen a human shambles both logical and necessary as a Channels show. On record, they come across as nothing less than your very purification. Their seething, scarily focused sound is that of youth culture getting old, real quick and real painful. Channels songs cut and batter with a wiry, furious presence. Guitars not included nor necessary.
Ch3x4's debut release on SLU, Christian Girls Like To Get Cut, was produced by longtime friend Johnny Jewel of Glass Candy and The Chromatics. While Christian Girls was purest testament to the live and direct Channels sound, their upcoming full-length, Christianity, shall be the sound of utter collapse. End times, what's up.
