Editor's review

There's a sense that Charles LaPlante's musical journey has led him to a place of reflection. Only an old soul who has seen it all could create music this comfortable in its simplicity. He finds the essence of a song and presents it as is.

Biography

Visit the new MySpace website at www.myspace.com/charleslaplante... Charles LaPlante, formerly of NYC, still lives and breathes in Seattle, recording in his own digital environment surrounded by the somewhat brooding nature of the Northwest. Songs posted here on Download.com will be released on CD and available for purchase after the songs go through one more round of EQ and mixing, a process that sometimes seems to take forever.

As a little background, Charles went the route of NY clubs and studios before heading out to Seattle to concentrate on writing. His songs often have a circular feel to them, rhythmic, melodic, and very well crafted. Despite his Pop and Rock background he is more apt today to listen to medieval and contemporary choral music, such as John Rutter, as well as Satie, Chopin, and Debussy. It'll be interesting to see how this affects his music over time.

A writer and publisher member of ASCAP he is among the small alumni of 'unsigned' artists elected to the annual ASCAP Pop Songwriters Workshop in NY. Look for his CD and digital downloads in 2008!
