charles rosa, known in europe as charles maria von rosa, originally surfaced in hoboken, new jersey, as the leader of a quartet that played little joints up and down the east coast. migrating to spain, he integrated computers into his music and evolved a conception dubbed electroatomic jazz. his debut album for croscrane was entitled "basic jazz," a series of improvised electroatomic pieces for keyboard, bass, drums and machine gun. he is also credited with the discovery of mildred irwin, the legendary saloon pianist who performed at the alamo bar in north platte, nebraska. currently residing in west albany, new york, charles photographs vegetables for a produce company.
