Editor's review

Playfully clever lyrics, a hip-hop/lounge vibe, and indie-rock aesthetics...sound familiar? Either Beck has moved to Fort Worth or there's a hot artist in that East Texas town. Well the answer's the latter, and the dude's called Chiminey. Shuffling drums, lyrical incantations, and vacuum-ish effects join to create eccentric party music.

Biography

Chiminey has been a musical project since the start of the new millenium. I can't remember when I started it, so you can take your pick as to when the new millenium started. I am seeking validation and distribution. My friends like my music and tell me so even when I plead with them to be honest. We have on different occasions formed bands that played various versions of these songs.

The most successful lead to about a 2 or 3 month regular gig playing at a club called Agave every weekend or so in Austin. Then I left Texas for Colorado and grad school. Working on some more rockin' songs in my basement, but also doing some scientist rappin'. I think the closest mindset I can think of as far as music making goes is Solex, but I don't know her, so I can't really guess. Just making music by myself and trying to get good melodies and interesting rhythms and soundscapes.
