There's a moodiness to Ward's arranging style that lends comparisons to England's Nick Drake or the "sadcore" success story from San Francisco, the Red House Painters. Originality in lyrics and quirky pacing give this material an unparalleled freshness. Chris earned his chops by being in bands before exploring singer/songwriter-dom.
I am a singer/songwriter that hails from Southern New Jersey. Having played in bands for most of his teenage years, I recently decided to try my hand at writing acoustic songs. I always like the sound of an acoustic better than the distorted electric, call me weird. I taught myslef how to play guitar at a young age and soon moved to bass, drums and piano. When I play live I use a variety of covers (such as America, Im on Fire, Wayfaring Stranger for you Papa M fans and a bunch of others) and originals. I had a guy from OHEV records tell me once I sounded like Iron and Wine meets Kind of Like Spitting with a Red House Painters feel to it. Others have told me I sound like Owen, Snow Patrol, Elliott Smith, etc. My influences mostly stem from such greats as Nick Drake to Jeff Buckley.
