Editor's review

If you don't do backflips for poppy vocal trance with a larger-than-life attitude, the music of Cirque Du Soliel isn't for you. But lunge for this one if trance inspires your dancefloor-bound derriere, or if you want to remember the sounds of the famous flashy freakshow.

Biography

Cirque du Soleil Musique presents DELIRIUM on CD. The music of the live arena event by the same name that is currently touring North America was released on CD in the U.S. on Tuesday, July 25, 2006. DELIRIUM is a unique production for Cirque du Soleil: a live concert event. "DELIRIUM is a mix of music, multimedia, choreography, dance and the Cirque du Soleil wow factor," says Ian Tremblay, the associate producer of musical content for the show and CD. In this historic first, lyrics have been created for the instrumental tracks and words integrated in place of invented language, bringing the music a fresh, poetic dimension. The music of DELIRIUM is driven by urban tribal beats that explode with electronic sounds, percussions and world rhythms.

The studio recording of DELIRIUM features 14 of Cirque du Soleil's most memorable songs, originally created by Rene Dupere, Benoit Jutras and Violaine Corradi that have been remixed by Quebec producer, composer and arranger Francis Collard. Collard deftly injects new life into these powerful classics resulting in uplifting pop/rock melodies mixed with exciting electronica sounds that culminate into a fabulous audio frenzy. Collard says, "This project really meant a lot to me and it was a pleasure to be part of it." The CD offers some surprises for listeners through bonus tracks not performed in the live show, including the French version of "Alone." The CD is being distributed by RED Distribution in the U.S.

ABOUT THE SHOW:

DELIRIUM depicts the quest for balance in a world that is increasingly out of sync with reality. The arena production centers around a character named Bill, an ordinary man who lives inside a bubble, a recluse in a society where even relationships are "virtual," and where television and computers have become ubiquitous devices that isolate us from one another. Everything in Bill's urban life further draws him into an imaginary, virtual world. On his journey he meets myriad characters that bring him little by little on the cusp of growth and change. He eventually learns to ground his energy into the real world. At the end of his voyage, Bill contaminates the people of his planet and enlists them in his quest for balance. The subtext of DELIRIUM is the notion that in life, we must join together to escape our solitary cocoons in order to survive.
