If you're not familiar with Italo disco, here's a fitting analogy for you. Italo disco personified is the brilliantly mustached member of the Village People swaggering up to you in a sweaty club, and under the disco ball shaking his bonbons valiantly in your direction. Made popular by Italian discos in the '80s, its housey, often acidic vocal electro is so shockingly cheesy, you can't help but get down. Confuzed Disco highlights it all--and we mean all.
Confuzed Disco: A Retrospective of Italian Records
Irma Records, in collaboration with Mantra Vibes, is proud to present 'Confuzed Disco', a retrospective on the legendary Bologna based label Italian records. The music style of the seminal Italian label could be described as 'new wave meets disco'. Acts like Gaznevada, Confusional Quartet, Stupid Set, N.O.I.A. and Kirlian Camera, during the period 1978-1982 generated the phenomenon known today as Italo disco. On this double CD you will find the original cult tracks along numerous re-edits and remixes by DJ's and/or producers that are popular today and have been inspired by that sound: Radio Slave, has remixed everything, from his monster for Chelonis R Jones to Kylie Minogue, plus releases on Skint, Soul Jazz, Classic, among the others. Munk, Gomma Records bosses, say no more? Fabrizio Mammarella, one of the hot new Italian talents, with several releases on Bear Entertainment, the label that rotates around Steve 'Fella' Kotey from Chicken Lips. Lindstrom & Prins Thomas, Norwegian revelation of 2005. Kaos, one half of Berlin based Terranova (K7), with a release due soon together with the legendary Liquid Liquid. E-The-Hot, Mantra Vibes family member, you will certainly hear his name again in the near future. Maskio, don't tell anyone, but this man is just Santos in his electro house mode?Pinktronix, from Bologna, it's Alex Dandi's project, with releases on Irma's Elettrica imprint and Tying Tiffany.
