Following what can only be seen as the natural progression of things, CriterionM (in full glory Criterion Sojourner Thornton ... yes his birth given name) decided to start a record label. He did, after all, have his first zine delivered to his rural Wisconsin mailbox at the ripe young age of 12. Many years of being a music nerd gave him the edge and enthusiasm it takes to begin such a frustrating (at times) and debt accumulating (always) venture. The man must love music. And he's also learning the laws of the accounting world in his efforts to calculate just how broke Broklyn is. (We'll tell you when we know the answer. Wait ... that's none of your business).
On the greener side of the grass, where creative ventures are not overshadowed by the financial burdens they spring forth, Broklyn has provided Criterion a shady tree under which to ponder his musical evolution. The fruits of this evolution will be available in September on his new 12", "Wet Pain." (and on many previous Broklyn releases) Perhaps he'll reveal to us some revelatory turning point in his musical innovations much like Newton's revelation about gravity while he was sitting in the shade provided by his favorite apple tree. It's high time the apple fallls on Criterion's head and he can reveal to the world his talent that has thus far been far too underexposed.
