Editor's review

It has become almost as common for German hipsters to produce house and techno as it is for Nashville natives to make country music. But Daniel Bragg isn't trying to go the pretentious minimalist route, nor the mega industrial rip-your-head-off techno route, either. His sound is classy, understated and booty-shakin'.

Biography

Former Worldless People member Daniel Magg has come along with a freshly squeezed debut solo album - Facets - on Compost Records. After having produced two 12”inches for Compost as well as a contribution to the “Compost 100” anniversary sampler alongside Worldless People partner Wolfgang Rüter, Daniel decided to go his own way launching his musical vision further and beyond.
Daniel describes this in his own words as an attempt to put his musical heritage and vision in an audible form, creating music with an energy level high enough to make an impact on dance-floors whilst still being musical enough for home listening pleasure.

The album may be labelled best as a collection of soulful tunes with some nice slants, each of them a testimony to Daniel’s love for warm and danceable vibes with a strong and sometimes rough edge from the leftfield house or Detroit camp. In the making of this album, Daniel has tried to capture the magical moments he witnessed as a DJ on dance floors all around the world, to add his own little “Facet” to the wide body of (dance) music.

To make this achievement, he teamed up with different musicians and producers whose music he felt a sympathy for, among them are Minus 8, Meitz, Philippe Kuhn aka gentlerain, member of Switzerland’s Loungechic Productions and former Worldless People Partner Wolfgang Rüter.

Daniel started getting into electronic music about ten years ago when he first fell in love with house and techno music at a local record store at the Lake of Constance in southern Germany, where he still lives in a small village right in the middle of Germany’s most picturesque landscape. He started spinning tunes at well established and world renown South German techno club Douala. Thereafter he took over the musical coordination of the Metro Club in Friedrichshafen where he used to play until the end of 2001 and turned to the deeper and sonic side of things. International guests included Juan Atkins, Jazzanova, Rainer Trüby , Phil Asher, Dixon and so on. Since the release of his first single Daniel became in demand as an international player with tours in the USA, Australia, Portugal, Spain among others, and of course all over Germany and Switzerland. Nowadays Daniel’s DJing style is quite well represented, though not limited, by the musical range of his debut album “Facets”.
